Commonwealth pledges support for free, fair elections in Bangladesh

Assistant Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Professor Luis Gabriel Franceschi, affirmed today that the organisation will provide full support to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in Bangladesh.
After a meeting with the Electoral Reform Commission at the Election Commission office, Prof Franceschi expressed optimism about ongoing reform efforts led by a skilled team of experts.
“These reforms will be implemented, paving the way for a brighter future for Bangladesh,” he told reporters.
“Bangladesh is set to become a success story for the Commonwealth and the world.”
Highlighting the Commonwealth’s commitment to free and fair elections, Franceschi said that such principles align with the aspirations of the Bangladeshi people.
“We will be happy to support whatever they want to do; we will be there. We don’t come to resolve problems for countries, we come to support the countries,” he added.
